About
I am a Yorkshire based artist who’s paintings explore themes of place, connection and home. I create colourful and atmospheric paintings of my favourite places – from the Yorkshire countryside to places close to my heart, including North Berwick, the Lake District, Cornwall, and further afield.
I spend a great deal of time outdoors, exploring familiar landscapes and hidden treasures. Walking in nature, whether through precious time with loved ones or finding solitude to quiet my mind, offers me both connection and calm. Always a balm for the soul, these experiences continually inspire my work, enabling me to reflect on the transformational benefits of being in nature, infusing each painting with the mood and atmosphere of the landscapes I explore.
My creative process is experimental and intuitive. Working primarily with acrylics, I create texture and movement, scraping and adjusting as I go. While I sometimes reference photographs, my paintings are guided by memory and emotion, evolving with each new layer. The result is sometimes unexpected, but always a celebration of the joy and comfort the beauty of our natural surroundings can bring.
With a background in Art & Design I now enjoy an active membership in several creative communities including Ilkley Arts, Ilkley Solar Gallery and Leeds Fine Artists.
